The ELIMINATA Laser-Copier Saver automatically saves energy used by laser printers and photocopiers. The ELIMINATA Laser-Copier Saver disconnects power at night and optionally over weekends and reconnects power again each morning, leaving the printer ready for use again. Power is only disconnected when the printer is idle.

How Does It Work?
Most office printers and photocopiers use laser technology which electrically heats parts of the printer when it is printing. Even when idle, many printers keep these parts warmed up so that it doesn’t take too long for printing to start again. At night and weekends when the printer is not being used, this energy is wasted. A typical workgroup printer will waste £24 per year like this.

The ELIMINATA Laser-Copier Saver has a sensitive light detector and automatically disconnects power when it is dark and optionally over weekends, dramatically reducing wasted energy. It is intelligent and won’t disconnect power if the printer is busy, so you can set a job to print before you leave, knowing that it will be completed before power is disconnected. Power is restored when it gets light again and your printer ready for use again.

An ELIMINATA Laser-Copier Saver used with a typical workgroup printer will save £110 over 5 years and eliminate around 500Kg of CO2.

The ELIMINATA Laser-Copier Saver has features which deliver more convenience and savings. It can be set so that if a security guard briefly turns the lights on at night, the printer isn’t powered up again. It also has Weekend Saving mode where your printer can be turned off for the whole weekend.

You cannot use this product with photocopiers and multi-function devices which have internal hard-disks.

Coca‑Cola Enterprises (CCE) has achieved the Carbon Trust Standard with the highest score for carbon performance in the carbon reduction assessment’s history, demonstrating outstanding results from the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

CCE is also the first major soft drinks manufacturer to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard, which recognises the achievements of carbon‑efficient companies. 675 companies have been certified by the Standard since its launch in 2008.

Following a rigorous 12‑week assessment process, CCE achieved a score of 95 per cent for carbon performance, which is the highest score ever awarded by the Carbon Trust Standard.

The assessment examined the standard of carbon management across CCE’s European operations, including the accuracy of the company’s measurement techniques. The Carbon Trust assessors also visited manufacturing plants at Clamart in France and Edmonton in GB to examine CCE’s carbon management practices.

Camfil Farr - Air FiltrationCamfil Farr believes that ventilation systems have a strong potential for energy savings and welcome the work accomplished by the European Commission towards the development of ecodesign requirements for air conditioning and ventilation systems – lot 6.

Further harmonisation of ventilation standards in buildings and the development of common standards is an important step towards improved energy efficiency and provides the ventilation industry with more certainty and incentives for investment and innovation. In this context, Camfil Farr would like to share some comments and recommendations on the draft report on ecodesign measures for lot 6.

Camfil Farr strongly supports the fact that the better integration of indoor air quality in the development of energy efficiency policies for buildings and products is highly valuable to achieve EU policy objectives in terms of savings. However, the current sole focus on increased insulation of buildings and the overall priority on energy saving opportunities without taking its side effects into account could potentially compromise the health of building occupants.

Camfil Farr is a global manufacturer of air filtration equipment and associated services and the world leader in the production and development of air filters.  They recently became the first manufacturing company in the UK to be awarded Energy Management Standard BS EN 16001 and the Energy Reduction Verification (ERV) Kitemark.

Camfil Farr in the UK has today announced that the company will become the first Gold Sponsor of Clean Air in London (CAL).  The ‘Clean Air in London’ campaign was founded by Simon Birkett and aims to improve standards of air quality throughout London and elsewhere. It works closely with other campaign groups and a wider network of supporters and volunteers to identify and build understanding of the most important issues and encourage decisive action on them.

Camfil Farr and CAL agree that clean air is a human right so Camfil Farr is supporting a new campaign by CAL to build public understanding of the dangers of indoor air quality, initially in London, with advice for people on protecting themselves and reducing pollution.

Further announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

ECO-CONSCIOUS airport bosses are “winging their way to green success” after smashing their goal of reducing the energy they use.

Staff at Newcastle International Airport had been set the target of cutting back the power they use by 2.5% over 12 months.

But when the totals came in it showed they’d more than doubled their target, saving around one million kilowatt hours of electricity – a 6.6% reduction.

Terry Clarke, energy and sustainability project manager at Newcastle Airport, said: “To beat the target we set ourselves by such a large margin is great. As well as the investments we’ve made, we’ve been educating staff about the best ways to conserve energy in their daily routines, and this has been very effective.”

As well as reducing its energy use by a fifteenth, the airport has also cut its carbon footprint by 5% year-on-year, putting it well on the way to achieving its target of a 15% drop compared to it’s 2010 levels by 2015.
